There is certainly no need to buy this over-simplistic one-idea book--but I did find it inspiring and here are my notes in the context of other trend-following books... As a blackjack and poker aficionado before developing my investment interests, I am consistently amused by the level of superficiality that I find in the more reputable and PhD-replete field of stock market investing. However I might be mistaken on some points, because I only skimmed through any of these books, primarily looking for specific advice on when to buy and sell.A. Main points about the ETF Trend Following Playbook.1. This book promotes the idea of total reliance on the 200-day EMA (Exponential Moving Average) with such chutzpah, I tend to think there is something to this...? So, I expect to be disappointed, but it has gotten me interested in experimenting.2. The most glaring shortcoming of this book is that it lacks any additional parameter, even to distinguish one ETF from another, either technical or fundamental.3. Much of this book is taken up with cheerleading for "following the system" and "controlling your emotions." There are also more necessary chapters about "why" we could do better if we only owned stocks while they went up. Of course most investment books have this sort of cheerleading and perhaps most people need it. The main difference with Tom Lydon's book is that there is very little else.4. As several other reviews have pointed out--most of this book has nothing to do with trend-following, but is just a catalog of available ETFs, with no actionable advice or even any distinctive opinion about each ETF. Possibly this entire book was patched together by one of Mr. Lydon's secretaries as something to hand out in client meetings. I even disagree somewhat with those who say this is "appropriate for total beginners." For people new to ETFs, it seems to me that the indiscriminate inclusion of just about every obscure ETF would be unnecessary and confusing.5. However as an experienced ETF investor, I like this book as a handy reference with which to refresh and check my knowledge. For example, until skimming this book, it never occurred to me that trend-trading Forex ETFs might be a possible alternative to Forex trading.B. More speculations about Tom Lydon.I think it is important to note that Tom Lydon appears to be quite well respected. He only has a bachelor's degree but is the current editor of ETFTrends.com, "the no. 1 site for ETF news and commentary." Current president of Global Trends investment advisory firm. A founding member of Charles Schwab's Institutional Advisory Board. A board member for several fund companies. A frequent contributor to Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, Investor's Business Daily, Barron's, MarketWatch, Investment News and CNBC. Additionally...1. Apparently, Tom Lydon left his initial grindhouse position at Fidelity to form Global Trends during the 1990's. Apparently, Global Trends became a successful pioneer in emphasizing ETF-based investing. Thus resulting in his current position as a leading expert in ETFs.2. Investing in broad, unmanaged ETFs vs. "value investing" does not make much sense either in theory or for reputation--unless you believe strongly in the less-respected schools of "trend following" or "market timing."3. So, it seems very understandable that Tom Lydon is somewhat of a maverick in advocating "trend following." Somewhat paradoxically, he takes the conventional stance against "market timing." "Please don't confuse trend following with market timing... Market Timing is guessing; trend following is a mathematical strategy." (p. 45)4. Tom Lydon's supposedly mathematical proof for his simple system relies entirely on one study done on the S&P by a friend Werner Keller, president of a research firm. Keller's study suggests about 2-3 times greater returns than for buy-and-hold, and about half the maximum drawdowns, over two 40-year periods. However the resulting growth rate seems only about 8% annually.5. I can find no clear advice in the book about minimizing the overhead created by fees and slippage. If you make 12 trades per year, with an overhead of -1%, that is -12% per year. So if a short-term system only adds +4% annually, this is likely worthless. However Tom Lydon is hardly unique among short-term investment gurus in failing to be clear about this essential arithmetic. Such is the rule not the exception. Before becoming overly critical, let us look at Tom Lydon's book in the context of other trend-following books...C. My current sources of trend-following ideas, in order of priority to check out. (These are not recommendations--just the books I happen to have.)#1. ETF Trend Following Playbook by Tom Lydon. (Dotcom: ETFtrends.)Buy and sell according to 200-day EMA. This idea can be tested easily with a spreadsheet. There is no need to buy the book. Tom Lydon consistently and emphatically rejects any exceptions to his rule, even for leveraged inverse ETFs. Significant empirical evidence: one 80-year study of the S&P.#2. The Neatest Little Guide to Stock Market Investing by Jason Kelly. (Dotcom: JasonKelly.)This is primarily a long-term value-investing guide, which also uses market timing to know when to leave the market. Kelly suggests using leveraged ETFs, apparently claiming they have twice the upside as well as twice the downside. Perhaps I am mistaken, but I don't agree. I find they mainly have twice the downside. Instead of the single parameter suggested by Lydon, Kelly suggests combining the following three indicators for buy and sell signals.50-day SMA. Kelly seems to suggest 'buy' when crossing above and 'sell' when crossing below. (However he does not specifically say this, and his chart shows a 20-day SMA with only 'buy' signals.)MACD Histogram based on daily periods. Buy when crossing to positive, sell when crossing to negative.14-day RSI. Buy when moving up across 30. Sell when moving down below 70.Kelly is often wordy and is unclear. He seems to suggest a "buy" or "sell" when any two signals agree--but that a long-term strategy does not need to sell unless all three signals agree. Significant empirical evidence: none, except for one example showing that this strategy might have helped to avoid the brunt of the crash of 2008.#3. Sensible Stock Investing by David Van Knapp. (Dotcom: SensibleStocks.)Another "fundamental" value-investing system, also using "technical" indicators. Van Knapp has a chapter on "momentum trading" which applies only to "type M" stocks, with specific screening data on page 204. (4-wk increase > 10%. 13-wk increase >15%. 26-wk increase >20%. Revenue growth >10%. EPS growth >15%.) Among these, Van Knapp suggests to buy only stocks which have been trending upward for 3-4 weeks--and which score well on his Easy Rate system (chapter D-5). When to sell: at a trailing stop-loss of -10%. Van Knapp also has an interesting chapter, persuasively defending "market timing." Van Knapp uses the 150-day SMA (Simple Moving Average) of the S&P as one of eight major market timing indicators. Presumably, these indicators might be applied to ETFs. However Van Knapp does not discuss ETFs and makes no attempt to determine which indicators are more effective. So there is no telling whether the results of his equal-weighted system are significant--might be or might not. Moreover he does not suggest using market timing by itself, but only as an added confirmation to his other systems, or to determine how much of the total portfolio value to be actively invested. Significant empirical evidence: none.#4. Market Timing for Dummies by Joe Duarte. (Dotcom: Joe-Duarte.)Whereas Tom Lydon's "ETF Playbook" only has one play--the Market Timing for Dummies seems to be a true playbook for someone who wants to experiment with every method of market timing and of trend following. However it seems to me, you would just have to try everything in this book for a year before having a clear idea what to do with all this information. I was unable to find any attempt to suggest clearly which are the best methods, or how effective they might be, or to outline a beginner strategy. However the instructions for each strategy are quite clear and seem well worth testing out. Significant empirical evidence: none.#5. Trend Trading for a Living by Thomas Carr. (Dotcom: BefriendTheTrend.)Clear advice on trend-trading with stocks that have over twice the average volatility, and that appear to form long trends. This seems similar to what Van Knapp calls "type M" stocks. Carr then clearly details how to distinguish 5 "bullish" patterns and 5 "bearish" patterns, and how to determine a "buy" signal within each pattern. Carr's advice on when to sell is in chapter 11. Carr describes four methods both for protective selling of unprofitable trades and for claiming profits on profitable trades. However his favorite for both seems to be the Trailing Stop Profit of usually -8%. Carr claims that "studies show it is by far the most profitable." However he fails to reference any such studies. Significant empirical evidence: none.#6. The New Sell and Sell Short by Dr. Alexander Elder. (Author of international bestseller: Trading for a Living.)This seems to be the sort of book you might want to read after you are experienced in all the other trading strategies above. Otherwise, this book is difficult to follow. Seems focused on day trading and presents many ideas and techniques, while usually not giving any specific guidelines. Vaguely seems to endorse every popular style: both trend and counter-trend trading, both value buying and momentum buying, both systematic and discretionary. Elder seems to believe that different methods work better for different people. He himself prefers the freedom of discretion, and unlike Lydon, often advises to modify strategies based on "feelings." Four sell-point methods are described: at a moving average, using envelopes or channels (which I think maybe means Bollinger Bands), "support" and "resistance." Also insists on stop-loss orders, usually based on "previous low." Significant empirical evidence: none.

This book provides a good introduction to the world of ETF trading along with a strategy of utilizing a 200-day moving average strategy. It also provided a listing of some of the ETFs available in various sectors although since there are new ETFs appearing almost daily, the author cannot be faulted for not listing more of them than he did.The author's 200-day moving average strategy is certainly easy to understand for the reader but in his efforts to make it appear so simple, he seems to have left out some details that someone might need to know when attempting to implement it. For example, he recommends buying your chosen ETF when it crosses above the 200-day moving average and selling it when it falls below the 200-day moving average line. Simple enough. Unfortunately, he fails to indicate what to do if you're interested in buying an ETF that is already above the 200-day line. When would he recommend still buying it? He mentions that whipsaws can occur but he makes no recommendation as to whether a trader should wait to see whether an ETF that dips below the 200-day moving average line remains there or whether to simply sell and not look back.Although he does make mention of the use of stop loss orders, he makes no recommendations within the book about whether traders should put in a stop loss after an ETF drops by a certain percentage or not. I did visit his website and found that he recommends setting a stop loss at 8% below a recent high. In my opinion, this is the sort of advice that should have been included within the book, but I guess one of the purposes of writing the book was to increase visits to his website. For what its worth, I did visit the website and found it to be a valuable source of additional information regarding ETFs. I anticipate visiting it on a regular basis.

To call this book elementary would be an insult to kindergartners everywhere - this pamphlet disguised as a book has one idea and flogs it through 200 pages of obvious and basic information, available with a ten second search on the internet. The one idea is that investors should get into the market, or a security, when it rises above its 200-day moving average, and get out when it falls below. That's it! The rest is a listing of ETF's that anyone with an internet connection can find instantly, with a dash of self-promotion of Lydon's ETFrends site. To anyone who has studied the market for more than five minutes, this book is a waste of time and money. Apart from the 200-day MA idea, there's nothing useful about trends, entries, exits, risk, money management or any other investing topic.

Review

“Stark’s delightful narrative is proof that even though Astor didn’t leave the legacy he intended, his grand failure certainly deserves its own place in history.” (New York Times Book Review)“In Astoria, Peter Stark recounts the colony’s history as a fast-paced, enjoyable adventure tale.” (Wall Street Journal)“In his new book, Astoria ... Stark moves skillfully back and forth from one segment of the splintered expedition to another. He also raises a tantalizing question about the enterprise as a whole.” (Washington Post)“[Descriptive] passages . . . make Stark’s fine book truly distinctive. They raise Astoria above the level of a well-done historical adventure and help the reader get into a scene and understand the context or see relationships between participants and between then and now.” (Chicago Tribune)“Peter Stark’s Astoria is a vivid recreation of an era when the Pacific Northwest was a vast unexploited wilderness, with Astoria as its main American colony. . . . Stark is particularly strong in describing the wilderness and its effects on human psychology.” (Seattle Times)“Stark tells their grim story well . . . ‘Astoria’ is a well-written . . . account of John Jacob Astor’s attempt to found a commercial empire in the Pacific Northwest. It illuminates the cultural limits of the American approach to frontier expansion.” (Portland Oregonian)“In this harrowing historical tale of adventure and hardship, journalist Peter Stark re-creates a largely forgotten 19th-century expedition-during which one group crossed the Rockies and another sailed around Cape Horn-to establish America’s first colony on the Pacific Northwest coast.” (Parade Magazine)“A fast-paced, riveting account of exploration and settlement, suffering and survival, treachery and death. [Stark] recovers a remarkable piece of history: the story of America’s first colony on the continent’s West coast.” (Kirkus (Starred Review))“A page-turning tale of ambition, greed, politics, survival, and loss.” (Publishers Weekly)“New York businessman Astor, with support from President Jefferson, launched two expeditions in 1810 - overland and by ship ... and Stark recounts the perilous journeys.” (New York Post)

From the Back Cover

In 1810, John Jacob Astor sent out two advance parties to settle the wild, unclaimed western coast of North America. More than half of his men died violent deaths. The others survived starvation, madness, and greed to shape the destiny of a continent. Unfolding from 1810 to 1813, Astoria is a tale of high adventure and incredible hardship drawing extensively on firsthand accounts of the men who made the journey. Though Astoria, the colony itself, would be short-lived, its founders opened provincial American eyes to the remarkable potential of the Western coast, discovered the route that became the Oregon Trail, and permanently altered the nation's landscape and global standing.

The Astoria Expedition of 1810 to 1813 established the first permanent (non-Native) American settlement on the Pacific Coast. The expedition was financed by wealthy New Yorker John Jacob Astor, who dreamed of monopolizing the Western fur trade and raking in billions doing business with the Chinese. Astor planned a two-pronged attack on the West Coast, with separate parties traveling by land and sea to rendezvous at the mouth of the Columbia River. Following closely on the heels of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, the Astoria Expedition was every bit as epic an adventure as that earlier journey. Besides a lot of historical markers on the side of Western highways, however, the story of the Astorian pioneers, while once familiar to the American public, has since faded into relative obscurity compared to the legendary status of Lewis and Clark. With his 2014 book Astoria: Astor and Jefferson’s Lost Pacific Empire, author Peter Stark aims to resurrect this important story from American history and restore it to the prominence it deserves. In many ways, the Lewis and Clark Expedition, however arduous, was an example of a trip where almost everything went right. There was only one fatality, from illness. Conflict with the Indians was minimal. They never drifted terribly far off course. The Astoria Expedition, on the other hand, is an example where just about everything that could go wrong did go wrong, for both the sea-faring party and the cross-country trekkers. Internal conflict, an ambiguous chain of command, poor decision-making or a lack thereof, faulty wilderness survival skills, undiplomatic relations with the Native population, the outbreak of the War of 1812, and more all added up to a mission impossible with a high body count. Although Lewis and Clark’s crew suffered from hunger and privation, their troubles pale in comparison to the perils encountered by the Astorians. Stark does a good job of bringing these hardships to vivid reality, but he’s always a little too ready to shift focus back to Astor in his cozy Manhattan brownstone and praise the fur baron’s vision of global domination. Stark strikes a pretty good balance between happenings on the East and West coasts, but I would have preferred a little more of the microhistory of the travelers and their survival tales, and a little less of the relentless affirmation of Astor’s importance as a pioneer of globalization.Though several members of the Astorian land and sea parties kept diaries of the journey, there seems to be a lot less information available on this expedition than that of Lewis and Clark. Stark is forced to skip over periods of time or to resort to filling in blank spots with speculation. All historians do this to some extent, but one wishes there were a greater pool of primary source material from which to draw. Documentation was one of the primary missions of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, as it had specific scientific, geographic, and diplomatic mandates to fulfill. The Astoria Expedition, on the other hand, was largely a commercial venture, and its members were primarily focused not on exploration or diplomacy but simply on the getting there. In terms of an adventure story, the Astoria trip may be the grittier and more treacherous quest, but it lacks some of the epic grandeur and Enlightenment spirit of its predecessor.Stark’s book is an illuminating reinvestigation and compelling retelling of this important episode in America history. It’s also just a great wilderness adventure story. Anyone interested in Western expansion or the early exploration of the American continent will certainly find it an enjoyable read.

I did not just read this book. I devoured it. As review author Lawrence Gonzales states on the rear of the dust cover, "..gave me the sense all readers long for: that nothing exists but the riveting narrative unfolding in your head." This was exactly the way I felt reading this excellent book. I have explored the Columbia and Snake rivers including, the Columbia bar, Astoria, their confluence, Hanford Reach, Hells Canyon and east to South Pass (in astronomically greater comfort) and was exhilarated to realize I had trodden the very path of these explorers. I had never heard of this dual expedition before and I could not put it down. Peter Stark weaves a tale that is smooth yet detailed and covers relevant explanatory side paths . The fore and aft character descriptions flesh out the story wonderfully. Other reviewers have covered the book in detail so no need here, just read it. I don't know what I can read next that will surpass this book, whatever it is, it will anti-climatic..

Although I do enjoy historical books, my interests usually run to ancient history (usually European or Egyptian). That being said, I have also read some early American history (Lewis and Clark exploration, mainly) but I had never heard of this exploration and settlement driven by John Jacob Astor. That is why I chose to read this particular book. It was very interesting, sometimes scary, and really brought out the complete lack of communication that explorers had in that time period. Add that to all the problems and mishaps that occurred makes you wonder how anyone survived or took the time to make notes for future generations! The story, itself, ended rather abruptly but the notes that followed as well as what happened to all the people involved, added to finishing off the whole story.

Review While this book does not have quite the style and grace of a David McCullough, or the breathless wonder of a Stephen Ambrose, it is nevertheless a very readable interesting story of the beginnings of the "westward ho" expansion of what today is the United States. Of course, at the time (early 1800s) it was not the United States. The country was just established, and the war of 1812 would determine the outcome of the story told in this book. While I enjoyed enlarging my personal cache of American history, what I found most fascinating in this book is the way in which personality determined the outcome of aspects of the story. From Captain Thorn, war hero, whose dictatorial style turns out to be totally unsuited for the ship portion of the journey to the west coast, to Wilson Hunt whose leadership approach was based on consensus style worked well when the journey was going well, but failed when things got tough. The book is not sparing on brutal details. Exploration journeys were too frequently riddled with brutality and brute force. In other words, this is not a glossy history. But the fact that as humans we can be brutal, or the fact that Americans have been and can be ruthless--that should not surprise the reader or cause the reader to conclude that the book is not worth reading.

I can not begin to comprehend how much research went into compiling this book . I really appreciate how the author and editors put this little known history together. I have gone to Cape Disapointment and Astoria a few times but never heard anything about these early Astorians. All credit is given to the Louis and Clark expedition. I can only wonder what the American west coast would have been like if Astor had hired someone like Louis and Clark to head his hoped for empire . If a person is even a little interested in American history and early pioneering struggles they should read this book.

Review

“Anita Carman’s life has impacted thousands of women all across the world, including my own. Her commitment to shape lives has been a beautiful sight to behold. And that is why this story, of how her own life was molded, is even more powerful. In these pages, you will read the authentic and gripping saga of a woman, her mother, and the God who loved them both.” --Priscilla Shirer, Bible Teacher and Author “In facing loss of loved ones, suicide, loneliness, abandonment, we find ourselves murmuring ‘Oh that’s why!’ It is then we ‘get it.’ God is the God of perfect timing. Anita tells her amazing story of her relationship with her mother from the perspective of wisdom learned when she couldn&rquo;t praise Him for what He allowed but let the pain drive her to an all sufficient Christ! A must read.” --Jill Briscoe, Author and Inspire Women’s Spiritual Mom “Anita Carman’s story is an incredible journey of God’s grace and ultimately His placement of her as a woman of influence. God is using Anita and Inspire Women in big ways, but every step of the path has not been easy. Impact is forged in the furnace of perseverance. We live step by step taking our hurts, dreams and joys to Jesus allowing Him to make sense of them. A Daughter’s Destiny is a journey of steps of grace leading to a life of impact.” --Kelly Matte, Wife of Gregg Matte, Senior Pastor of Houston’s First Baptist Church “I welcomed a novelized approach to teachings from a story that is compelling, intriguing, and connects to the base instincts of curiosity and the longing for answers that makes us want to buy a book and read it. And now I know my mother’s story and my story are inextricably connected.” --Deborah Clifton, CEO of TarrenPoint “I was pulled in from the first sentence. This story gave me much to ponder about my own life.” --Georgiana Nichols, Former President of Centerpoint Energy “Anita’s writing depicts her love for God and her enthusiasm for sharing her life for God’s glory. If you have ever longed to add meaning and significance to your purpose as a woman of God, this book will encourage you to allow God to lead you on your journey.” --Ruby August, First Lady of The Church at Bethel’s Family “Inspire Women has a whole new meaning to me after reading your story. What a story of REDEMPTION, RESTORATION, and HOPE!!!! WOW!!!! Anita tells it in a way that I feel like I’m living the story myself...I fell in love with James when her mom did. I cried with her mom when she had to leave sweet little Bobby. I couldn’t breathe like your mom couldn’t when Betty died, and so on. I am reminded that God is the ALPHA and the OMEGA...the BEGINNING and the END! I’ve never looked at my mom’s story and how it relates to my story but it’s given me something to think about.” --Cara Berkman, Wife of Lance Berkman “I lingered on each word as if I was living Anita’s life with her. I felt her pain, her mother’s pain. Anita’s story broke my heart, emptied my heart, then again filled my heart and mended it all over again. It read as if Anita sat in my presence telling me this story, talking face to face to each other as we relived her mother’s dreams, hopes and pain. I cried throughout the reading. This book will touch the soul and stimulate the heart of any person, women and men, and take them on a journey of spiritual freedom.” --Mary Redmond, Owner of REDMOND MGT-McDonalds “Thank you for sharing these stirring memories. What a powerful journey you have lived. I was uplifted after reading your book.” --Alvin Gee, Owner of Alvin Gee Photography “Anyone who wants to defy the odds to live a life of greater purpose must read this book! In this heart-wrenching true story of a family’s dysfunction, suicide and lost dreams, Anita Carman restores your hope in reaching for the impossible.” --Pat Williams, Senior Vice President and Co-founder of the Orlando Magic and author of Leadership Excellence

This book for me is a present reminder of the faithfulness of our God. 'Being confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ." The flow and the ease of the reading this book are so very captivating, it engulfed my heart pulled me deep into Anita's story. A Daughter's Destiny will spark the imagination of the reader so vividly that the words are lifted from the pages and a picture is painted within the heart. Thank you, Anita, for following your God-given dream and pressing your way to your destiny. This book is a true testimony and an inspiration to the masses of women who will choose to persevere in spite of.

Definitely a must read! Anita Carmen shares her family's life experiences so vividly, you can't help but feel like you were there! You may even find parts of your story in this book or may be able to relate in some ways! Either way, God's redemption is available! Deliverance from your own issues will take place while reading this book, as you will see that, if God did it for Carmen, He can surely do it for you! I pray your life is blessed while reading this book!

Reading this book reminded me of that moment in 2004 when I went to the first Inspire Women conference and told my husband "I want to be a part of that ministry. I want to go to a Christian college but I know we can't afford it." I believed in God and enrolled anyway. After 1 semester, the phone rang and it was Anita herself asking if I would like my tuition to be paid in full. I cried tears of joy and graduated from the College of Biblical Studies as a scholarship recipient. I know my journey isn't over yet and finishing this book only sparked my desire to continue walking towards the goal. I loved it from beginning to end. Thank you Anita for being led by God to bless women all over the world. Be blessed today and always.

Praise God for Sis Anita Carmen!!! Definitely a must read! A Daughters Destiny is filled with hope, faith, redemption, forgiveness, love, compassion, and the heart to be and do more! I couldn't put this book down. The words creatively flowed and helped me to look at my life and realize each day to follow my heart and to love my family and friends nevertheless. Thank you Sis Anita for sharing your life. Thank you for sharing with us the life of your mom. Thank you for taking us on a journey to love with our hearts. Awesome book! I encourage ALL women to read this book and to learn how to deal with challenges as God's most precious Destined Daughter's! Praise God! Sis Anita Carmen and Inspire Women have helped me develop spiritually and emotionally. Sis Anita and Inspire Women are Awesome and Amazing Women Of God!Selah,Denise O

An amazing story of love, suffering, hardships, dreams, and God’s faithfulness. In the midst of fear and sorrow God was creating a beautiful tapestry in the life of Anita that would ultimately show the world how much He cares for her and each of us! How He suffers when we suffer and how He is in control, even when we don’t feel like it. Thank you Anita for sharing your life, and your mom’s life with us. I know that many will find strength, courage, hope, and faith through your book. Claudia R Barrett.

Anita captured emotions, spirit, and faith journeys that all women face and gave practical advice on how we as women of faith can face them. It is hard as a woman to separate yourself from the journey of the mothers and women that went before you. As you grow, you deal with your own sadness, anger, and frustration. However, often we also take on the sadness, anger and frustration of the women who shaped us. It takes strength to heal those places and break free so God can shape the story He made just for us - not for the other women He has called. One of my favorite lines from the book is "[m]y sufferings shaped my calling." I am glad that this book has helped me to heal with practical steps, authentic stories, and genuine revelations of how Christ has already redeemed us for His work. Anita's transparency and candor is inspiring and her story is truly a blessing.

👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️I love , love , love Anita Carmen , even before reading A Daughters Destiny. But my God ! Reading this helps me to love her, myself and others even more. The truth of the trials we endure, is a blessing in the journey we are on... Amazing 📚! God continue to use your daughter to help encourage and stand with others in their journey. God bless 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾. #adaughtersdestiny

Once I started reading Anita's book I couldn't put it down. This is a true story of how God uses tragedy to His glory. As you read, you'll see a little girl desperately trying to help her family survive. As she grows up she finds love, suffers great loss, and finally loses all hope. Read on to see how God uses her life to inspire her daughter to bring glory to His name and help other women in the process.I highly recommend this book, it's a 'must' read.

Game of Gods: The Temple of Man in the Age of Re-Enchantment, by Carl Teichrib

Review

"From politics to transhumanism to the interfaith movement, Western culture is quickly turning away from a biblical worldview and embracing a false gospel of Oneness. Teichrib skillfully explains the roots of this shift and how the transforming gospel of Jesus Christ is still the only hope for a world enraptured with paganism. Game of Gods is exactly the resource the church needs for such a time as this. Read it!"- Janet Mefferd, host of Janet Mefferd Today."Game of Gods is the most thorough writing of our generation on the history and inner workings of the one-world movement." - Gary H. Kah, author of En Route to Global Occupation & The New World Religion."Game of Gods is a must-read. Teichrib draws on primary sources and lets the leaders of a new globalist religion tell you exactly what they're planning: a new Golden Age ruled by the gods of antiquity."- Derek Gilbert, host ofSkyWatchTV and author of Last Clash of the Titans."Timely truth with flawlessly documented research, unparalleled scope and insight."- Debra Rae, author of ABCs of Globalism."One of the most brilliant pieces of work ever written on how the Judeo-Christian narrative has been abandoned in our politics and culture, replaced by a me-god worldview. A must read... for such a time as this!" - Cindy Hartline, host of Love For The Truth Radio.

This book is the result of years and years of research....if going places that Christians don’t normally go. Carl has given us all a complete look inside of the new age movement....from its birth to where it has taken our civilization. This book is a MUST read for ALL believers....especially pastors and teachers...so we can know how to best reach this particular mission field for Jesus Christ. It’s a lot to take in but Carl draws you in masterfully. Don’t just get 1 book! Get your pastor and church leadership a copy!! Probably THE most important book on this topic of our time!!

As a former new-ager, I can testify to the accuracy of this book. I love the way things are documented; people, places, events; the author actually goes to the events described, which I highly respect as an author and researcher. Anyone who wants to understand the New Age mindset should read this definitive and thorough analysis.

I just started reading this book, "Game of the gods" . It has totally captured my attention! It is very thorough in its writings. I am a student of Bible scripture and Biblical Prophecy and I am finding that this book is going to be a part of my small list of "go to's " for reference, understanding and research. Thanks Carl for giving of your time, prayer and research to this book that the public may learn from its contents.

Extensively researched, complete with footnotes (literally thousands of them). This book is the product of decades of research done by the author. I cannot imagine any of his subsequent books will measure up to this one. If you perceive the shift the world has taken, this book will fill you in. I often suspected that man's ultimate move away from couldn't be toward raw atheism, but rather, some counterfeit. Humanity has found their answer in the various mysticisms that put man first. Men must worship. It is ingrained. If they refuse the one true God, then they will worship themselves, through the conduit of the occult or the various mysticisms saturating modern society's spiritual worldviews. As Carl says in the book, it is the age of re-enchantment. The worship of man through the enchantment of mysticism. All the supposed benefits of religion, none of the consequences. The great falling away will not be a turn toward atheism, but rather, toward retrofitted Paganism. The old lie of Eve's serpent, "Ye shall be as God..."Read the book for more.

Very comprehensive. Filled with lots of personal experience and research. He ties together many facets of life that are espousing the oneness doctrine and analyzes them from a Christian worldview.

This just may be the most in-depth look at the global Oneness movement that has ever been written. Intensely researched, thoroughly documented and written in a way that the novice on the subject of occult oneness can simply understand the collective mindset of those pulling the strings of culture creation and political movements and their quest for "highest perfect enlightenment." A tome of knowledge that should be on every believers shelf. If you're a researcher you're sure to learn something new. There are enough footnotes to keep you busy for years, if you choose. Thank you Carl for your dedication and commitment to our Lord Jesus Christ and His body of believers! God bless.

Today I finally received my copy of friend Carl Teichrib's "Big Picture" research tome, GAME OF GODS - "the temple of man in the age of enchantment." Been wantin' it 'cause I knew t'was gonna be good! Having just finished first two chapters -- it exceeds all expectation!Carl takes a "boots-on-the-ground" approach to research (2018 included an outreach he called "Camp of the Unknown God" at the pagan Burning Man madness in the Nevada desert). Likewise, GAME OF GODS begins with the story of Carl's attendance at the 1997 WORLD YOUTH CONGRESS in Vancouver, co-convened by former UN Assistant Secretary-General Robert Muller, recipient of UNESCO's Peace Education Prize for writing the WORLD CORE CURRICULUM in 1989.Here's a taste of what inspired the young world-changers at the Congress, quoting to the assemblage from a future-vision novel by Demond Berghofer (an organizer of the Global Citizenship 2000 Youth Congress) -- "We begin by understanding that the world can and does have a mind. It's a manifestation of the collective consciousness of all the minds existing on the planet. The great project in the 21st Century will be the gathering of these minds into a single, resolute purpose for the betterment of earth and everyone on it. The nation state that we have designed is an imperfect concept. At best it's a stepping stone to the place where we must now go: planetary stewardship. And we can't get there unless we turn five and a half billion minds from a multitude of cultural ignorances into a unified mindframe... Creating that mindscape is the momentous task of our band of Visioneers. They must seek out the pressure points and touch them to move the power levers of politics and wealth and military might with a new more powerful force: enlightened visions of human destiny."

Game of Gods is an unprecedented work in scholarship and behind-the-scenes story-telling revealing an obvious and sinister agenda as it unfolds strategically and logistically. If you want to know the source of many of the tactical issues we hear so much of today in spiritual politics it’s laid bare here. Discover the real story straight from the primary sources orchestrating the plan behind this age of re-enchantment we are living in from a standpoint of climate change, syncretism, paganism, transhumanism, interfaithism, collectivism, oneism and more. This book deserves your attention and I give it my highest recommendation--without reservation! In fact, it should be the new go-to resource for everyone to discover what is truly going on today. Get informed by the documented facts and start asking what you can do in this unseen war to be an ambassador for Christ!Greg Outlaw, President & CEO, All About GOD Ministries, inc. and Executive Producer of FringePop321.

An interesting work. . . . It speaks of how conditions can be changed and perhaps improved by "nudging" people. Rather than "beating up" on people, subtly nudge them. Fascinating reading and very provocative. Is nudging good? Or manipulative? The authors, Richard Thaler and Cass Sunstein, faculty at the University of Chicago, define a "nudge" as (Page 6): ". . .any aspect of the choice architecture that alters people's behavior in a predictable way without forbidding any options or significantly changing their economic incentives." Indeed, they define their perspective as "libertarian paternalism." They believe in freedom but also wish to use "nudges" to induce people to improve their health, and live longer and happier. One simple example? Has any male ever used a urinal with a fly painted onto it? This simple nudge reduces "spillage" by 40% as males involuntarily try to hit the "target." In the process, there is a benefit, less smelliness and messiness in the restroom. The book applies the nudge argument to investments, health, school choice, organ donation, the environment, marriage, and so on. In each case, they try to show how nudges and libertarian paternalism can improve the quality of life of individuals as well as providing social benefits.Questions do arise, as the authors themselves admit. Is this a manipulative approach? Do we subtly manipulate people into doing things that they might not voluntarily wish to do? Thaler and Sunstein address these issues. Each reader will have to determine how well they succeed. A provocative and fascinating work, well worth reading.

The point is very clear. We all have preconditioned manners of making decisions and instead of having to choose from thousands of options it makes more sense to nudge us to a more common ground than to leave us confused and frustrated. This of course is on condition that there is pure transparency of all the options. If you have ever read any books about psychology or studied the subject or have read Daniel Kahneman’s book Thinking Fast and Slow, than this book will not provide you a lot of new insight. It looks at a lot of old and some recent researches about how people who think they’re making rational decisions are in reality not and have pretty predictable decision patterns. The book then goes on to recommend how society could be better if we followed some type of Paternal Libertarianism where the ones providing choses like Insurance companies or government services nudge persons to make smarter decisions while being transparent of all the options and not hiding any of them. I agree with them almost 100%. Most of their suggestions and examples make sense as long as the ones nudging are 100% transparent. If you’re anything like me, you will say the book is just okay and you will not be blown away by any Wow moments. So you can either read the book or save time and just speak to someone who read the book and have a nice long discussion with them.

Nudge: Improving Decisions About Health, Wealth, and Happiness by Richard H. Thaler and‎ Cass R. Sunstein has a simple premise. Unlike classical economic theory, where people are fully rational and always do things in their best interest, we are really lazy, uninformed, and unmotivated. We make bad decision because we lack information, or space out, or are too stupid to investigate what descisions will make our lives better.Intuitively, this view appeals to me. One example: create online retirement forms with a default setting which generally benefit employees, rather than no setting at all. Most people don't really understand their retirement plans, if they even have one. So make their laziness work for them.Of course, the “Libertarian Paternalism” proposed in this work is problematic. Who makes the choices that we get to choose from? Can’t "they" rig the system for their benefit and not ours?Despite this, I think the author’s view of human nature is sound, and can lead to more intelligent discussions about what we, as a species and individuals in that species, can hope to accomplish.

No wonder Richard Thaler's work won him the Nöbel Prize in Economics! Built on the earlier work founding Behavioral Economics by Daniel Kahneman and Amos Tvarsky which de-throned the "Rational Actor" model of humans in Classical Economics, Kahneman and Tvarsky, joined by Paul Slovic, showed human thinking is hard-wired in evolution, beset by Heuristics and Biases which are provably non-rational. They answer the question often provoked by observations of others clearly acting against their self-interest. There has been 35 years of continuing research in this area, a Nöbel for Kahneman, even showing that Capuchin monkeys are hard-wired native economic thinkers and choosers. We act, as evolution indicates, for action in the short term, primarily in the lower level, fast thinking brain and with heuristics/algorithms sufficient to meet the test of "Probably Approximately Correct", with book of this name by Leslie Valiant. Humans are not randomly irrational, but predictably irrational, which is what makes The Nudge work effectively.Thaler gives us an alternative to formal control systems for humans based on rules, laws, behavioral/operant conditioning, "shoulds, oughts, musts". Humans ignore or rebel against the rules, and deny consequences for short term gains.Thaler's "Nudge" is the alternative, assuming people will act in their self-interest without depending or using rationality or reason. Thaler shows in his reserach and presents in his book how to shape choice using the newly discovered laws of predictable irrationality, or choice shaping.
