About the Author

Jennifer R. Buettner, RN, CEN, currently serves as the nurse educator for the emergency department (ED) at DeKalb Medical Center at Hillandale, Lithonia, Georgia. In this role, Mrs. Buettner works to advance the careers of emergency nurses through education and evidence-based practice. She finds great joy in helping others grow professionally and cultivate their inner gifts and talents. She has developed ED orientation processes and education courses for several local hospitals in the Atlanta, Georgia, area. In her 17 years of ED nursing experience, she has spent several years precepting new emergency nurses and has served as a legal nurse consultant. Mrs. Buettner holds certifications in basic disaster life support (BDLS), advanced disaster life support (ADLS), and as a certified emergency nurse (CEN), and serves as an advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), pediatric advanced life support (PALS), and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) instructor. She is a course coordinator for the trauma nursing core course (TNCC) and emergency nursing pediatric course (ENPC). She is a current member of the Emergency Nurses Association and an advocate for the Board Certified Emergency Nursing exam. She received the Faculty Award from the Virginia Beach School of Practical Nursing, for the graduate who “has achieved excellence in both the academic and clinical settings and who best exemplifies the total integration of program philosophy to professional performance” (March 1999). In 2010, Mrs. Buettner was nominated as nurse of the year by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. She was a finalist for the 2016 Atlanta March of Dime's Nurse of the Year Award. Her passion to teach and mentor new ED nurses led her to create an original ED orientation manual made specifically for new emergency nurses and their preceptors.

Great guide! I've been working in the ED for a little over two years and find this book super helpful. I wish I would've had this book as a new grad as it explains everything in a compressed yet thorough way.

Good for a new nurse...or a nurse that is new to the ED. Not very helpful for and experienced ED nurse that is looking to expand their knowledge. A bit basic.

Fast Facts for the ER NURSE is a book I read while in orientation for an ER position. The book is designed to be a supplement to the orientation process and I found it to be average. Overall it was a book that truly gave you a nutshell look at being an ER Nurse. Most of the information was accurate and did fire off synapses that have been dormant for many years. The most difficult part was the layout of the chapters in regard to front to back reading. There is a suggested pattern to read the book but you will find yourself skipping around a lot. What this book is in need of are Emergency Departments to utilize it for backbone education or refresher of the new nurse to the ER. A skills section would be nice also. A section on how to deal with a click environment ER for the nurses survival of employment would also be nice.

Should have bought this a long time ago. A great resource for anyone that works in the ER as well as a reference for nursing school.

Gave as gift for new grad. Really helped her with predicting what to expect with patients.

For $13.00, this is an absolute rip-off. I brought this for my upcoming trip to Kiev because I am only visiting Kiev, and I am not a fan of Lonely Planet guides (plus, the LP guide is years out of date) - but it honestly looks like someone badly translated some tourist attraction information off of some Ukrainian travel site, added some information from Wikitravel, and then printed the whole thing out of Microsoft Word in a ridiculously large font. I am hardly surprised the other Project Nomad guides have such poor reviews and I have no idea why this one has such a high one. The guide is ALL over the place, like someone just quickly jotted everything they could thing of about all of the main tourist attractions (the cave monastery, Independence Square, etc.) in Kiev with all sorts of useless points. Not a single map in the guide either and almost no practical information. What is scary is the Wikitravel article on Kiev has more information than this entire book! Project Nomad is a great scam - my book is headed right to the recycling bin. Hopefully Kiev/Ukraine will mainstream and current guide books one day.

There are not many guide books to Kiev, and this one will be useful. But note that it is only 97 pages long and these pages are small, with a large font, large margins, and double-spaced text. I estimate that the contents would fill 25 pages of a conventional book. Also note there are no pictures, no maps, no URLs, no language tips, and few details (for example, it says to bring electrical adapters but doesn't say whether Ukraine uses the same plugs as Europe or not).

This very skimpy book has no photos (at least the kindle edition has none). and very little to say. The historical summary is a joke. Admittedly it’s not very expensive, but just looking at Wikipedia tells the traveller far more about the place. I don’t understand the high ratings given by other reviewers for this book.

This is a great adventure book. A great learning book. Providing perfect travelling info. Author give full approach for that.

This is a fake travel book. Just a few paragraphs with big fonts to make believe. No names of writers or publishers. No use for such a product.

one of the worst travel guide I've ever seen. It's basically just a collection the most basic information you can find on wikipedia and printed out in enlarged text and double spacing. The content doesn't inspire traveling or provide any practical information for travellers.

Really helpful for my boyfriend on his trip to Kiev for the Champions' League final-- just wish it could have helped his team win!!
