Etienne Geraert was Zoology Professor at Ghent University, Belgium. Alberto Bin holds a PhD from the Institut des Hautes Etudes Internationales in Geneva, Switzerland. He is the Deputy Director of the Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies, University of Malta, and holder of the Chair of Mediterranean Diplomacy and Relations. He is also visiting professor at the Department of Political Studies, University of Catania. His research interests include Italian foreign policy, and issues of security and cooperation in the Mediterranean and Middle East.Richard Hill holds a PhD in statistics from Harvard University and a BS degree in mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has worked for the National Bureau of Economic Research and other organizations as a statistician and an economic analyst, and has taught at Webster University in Geneva, Switzerland. He also served as director of the Institute for Regional Studies which sponsored research and served as the University's press. basis for war strat. quick. superior tech, traing, organization. Excellent leadership. More american service members would have died in traffic/household accidents if they had not been deployed.Big fan of "Shock and Awe"....especially when mixed with "underpromise...overdeliver"

Very well written. Starts a little slow with much preliminarybut fascinating information about the international politicsleading up to the war. After that starts a day by day account of the war and most major battles. I especially liked the manybehind the scenes personal interviews with pilots, Iraqi officers, tank commanders, etc. about their experiences,Many " stories never told" . It was riveting. Very well researched, unbiased & hard to put down.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration and master of science in accountancy from Western Michigan University. A great source for additional 3rd edition spells. A good book for DMs and Players alike. And a great gift for the D&D players in your life.

One of my favorite S&S books

I maybe a bit prejudiced since one of spells in here is one I sent to White Wolf as part of their Open Call for writers. My first impression is that they took the format they used in the first Relics and Rituals(which I loved, especially the Vigilant prestige class) and repeated much of it with new material. Among the great new features includes Astrology as part of the game mechanics for play and a Prestige Class that is basically an old kit from the Shair's Handbook of the old Al-Qadim campaign setting for 2nd Edition(based primarily on 1001 Arabian Nights, good campaign setting to run that kind of campaign) revamped and made a little more divorced from that setting. Spells are nice, I like a few of the enchanted stuff and the rituals are always nice. Tattoo magic was interesting concept and they expanded it in this edition slightly but not at the expense of other sections. All in all, it's a great rescource for the Scarred Lands in particular and D&D/D20 in general.

Now don't get me wrong, i'm a huge fan of forgotten realms and dragonlance settings, but, Scarred lands has won my heart with this book. Imagine, adding the zodiac into your campaign, mixing arcane and divine with cabals, new prestige classes like the Sage and the High Astologer, of course great new spells weapons and all in all cool stuff, but also...(are you sitting down?) yes psionics! finally we learn about the Slarcians and how they... well, read the book. also, some great tomes. all in all the book is great. wonderful stories, great gameplay material. as always a little ~enh on the artwork, but definately not too bad. and of course, find it hard to keep track of what spell is where? yes the spell list tells you where to find all the coolness!... enjoy.

If you want a bunch of spells that would allow a team of a half dozen low-level wizards to take out epic level fighters effortlessly, this is your book. If you want amazingly powerful (and comparatively very cheap) magic items for your mid-level wizard to create, this is your book again. If you want amazingly over-powered prestige classes, this is your book. If you want skill points that duplicate very high level spells, this is your bookIf you want something that is in balance with the core rules, avoid this like the plague. I don't know if this was simply never play-tested, or was play-tested by a bunch of uncreative people. I'm looking at it from the perspective of a 3rd level wizard (because I always play wizards). There's nothing like having spells to give me a basic armor class of 27. Nothing like having spells which can render high-level fighters helpless or pacifist -- for months! -- and subject to coup-de-grace with their own swords. Nothing like having spells this early which allow you to fly, invisibly spy upon enemies, and remove armor from any opponent (or transfer it onto an opposing wizard). Yeah, an epic-level fighter might make a saving throw, but with a team of 6 wizards, he will fail one of them.The authors have a lot of interesting ideas to be sure, but if I was a dungeon-master, I would not allow this book to be used. I can only hope my DM will allow it (insert evil laughter).

I'm enjoying this book. If you are interested in playing around with Garmin GPS devices (GPS is a sort of hobby for many), you probably want to get it, and the 4 star rating is for you. However, if you want a book about GPS in general or about brands other than Garmin, this isn't the book you want.Much of the book amounts to a more detailed owner's manual than what Garmin gives you. It covers handheld units pretty well but is not intended for other GPS device categories like aviation. In covering many different models, it also accomplishes a lot of comparison between their user interfaces and other features. I like that it does a better job than Garmin's manuals of explaining how to think about the user interface - that is, the strategy behind it.There's also info on using Garmin software, and some explanitory info on things like DGPS and WAAS, the NMEA interface, external antennas, and similar related stuff. There's an entire chapter on secret keystroke sequences that access undocumented abilities (not that these are all that powerful). I would have liked more of this ancilliary information, more depth and variety, but did appreciate what there was.One unusual downside: this book may have the most typo's of any I've read. I bet there's about one per page, of the sort where another word is substituted ("use" instead of "user", "you" instead of "your") as if they only used a spell check. But that hasn't interfered much with using it.

I bought this so I could learn more about my etrex vista C. The book is a little out of date for the more recent GPSrs but is still generally applicable. I did learn many things from it. One thing, though, is that it tries to cover a very wide range of units, this leads to a lot of variations in the instructions and it gets pretty repetitive. There are also a large number of typos in the book. Things like "you" instead of "your" and "an" instead of "and." They clearly used a spell checker but didn't have the benefit of a good proofreader. This really didn't take too much away from the value of the book but it didn't improve it either.If you have a Garmin handheld then I would recommend this book.

I purchased the book after being asked to process GPS data from the Garmin devices at work. The book may be very useful in practical use of the GPS in the field as that was 99% of the content, but that wasn't my job. For processing data using the garmin program once you download the data, the book had a little over one page of advice. So if you need to use a Garmin GPS in the field, you may find this book invaluable. If you need to crunch the data once you get back to the lab, the book has no value.

Too complicated. I wanted a simple, how-to-use a GPS. Maybe, if I ever learn to use the GPS, it may be of some value. On the other hand, I may never use it.

This book explains clearly what GPS is, and throws in all of the when's, how's and what's. I learned more by reading a few pages of Dale Depriest's work than reading chapters in other GPS pubs.Well worth your money; go fot it!(I use the Garmin Rino 530 GPS Navigator with 2-Way Radio.)

This book is too much text and with 300 pages only has 37 pictures of very poor dot matrix quality. No step by step instructions. Much reading, very little learning.
