I thought this would have more in it about the new Fire 7" $49.99 tablet. This new tablet is quite different in many respects from the earlier version I have of the Kindle Fire 7" HD. I'd like to see a book solely on the new 5th generation Fire released Oct. 2015. This book can be used as a general guide, but discusses many features not available on the new fire & leaves out things that I needed to have covered. Wish I'd waited for a book specifically for this new tablet.

authors know their stuff. the appearance of the tablet images is TERRIBLE. Black tablet face makes any printing on it almost IMPOSSIBLE to read. Where was the editor or proof reader when this book was put together??? They should be fired!

while this for dummies is written with the usual breexy style it often goes over details that it is assumed we know....I don't and am still unablel to use my fire. Many plates are useless as they appear to be solid black. With a magnifier one can slightly make out words.

Excellent resource of information for new users of a Amazon Fire Tablet. Tells you for the most part all that you can or cannot do with your table. A very well done typical "... For Dummies" book.

This book was fine otherwise, but if you like a good screen shot to use as a reference... the ones in this book are very dark and you may need a magnifying glass.Hope this review was helpful.

Was helpful with my new tablet. The pictures were real copies of the tablet screen and difficult to see what the author was describing.A black and white illustration would have been more helpful in locating the icons she was describing.

Although the author’s name is fictional, this story was written by an M.D., which leads to some medical terms that left me somewhat cross-eyed. However, the authenticity of the main character's experience as he stumbles through medical school, made the Latin inconsequential.Be warned, if you buy this book and read it in a public place, you may well embarrass yourself by laughing aloud. Well, the laughter might not cause you a red face, but if you have to explain what is so funny--good luck with that!Along with lighthearted humor where the reader is laughing along with the main character and not at others, the author includes a smattering of well-considered social commentary on what exactly makes a good doctor. He educated me on the tremendous stresses endured not just by medical students, but also by those already qualified doctors who are expected to teach as well as perform their onerous duties on a hospital ward. For Seth, the stress extends beyond the hospital wards and stretches his personal relationships to breaking point.In summary, this is a terrific read. For a doctor, the author’s writing is beautifully clear and accessible--see what I did there? As a retired Nursing Practitioner with forty-four years in the health care field, I am drawn to stories of medical professionals in the making. Didn’t Get Frazzled by David Z. Hirsch stands out as an entertaining, enlightening and realistic portrayal of the grueling path one must take to earn their standing as a competent professional.The main character, Seth and his band of cohorts are medical students enduring the trials and tribulations of medical school while also trying to manage the intricacies of their love lives. Hirsh has a distinctive voice, raw, real and at times hilarious. There were times I laughed out loud. But there were also times, when I felt the gravity of the situation as life and death hung in the balance. His characters were believable and multidimensional. They came alive on the page and added a deeper dimension to the stressors endured in the path to becoming a doctor.The story flows at a steady pace through various clinical scenarios, some funny, some sad to the roller coaster ride of twenty-something relationship issues. Back in the day, I dated a medical student so I could relate to the complexities.Through out it all, Seth reigns as the hero, often showing better clinical judgment than the person mentoring him, whether it be an attending or an intern. In that regard, the story lives up to it title, Didn’t Get Frazzled. I’d like to think that any doctor I entrust my care to would have done the same.This story is a vivid glimpse into the life of a medical student. I highly recommend this engaging and enjoyable read.

Great story, I loved it! Seth Levine is spending three years at the elite New York City medical school. He faces the many challenges of his future life. He endures much stress along with much humor, as well as the continuous break ups with a woman. How will he ever earn the title of "Doctor?" It's a long road ahead with many bumps along the way, but humor is what kept him going, going with the flow. Readers will love this story, written by a doctor who refuses to divulge his true identity ... that's okay, as long as he's compassionate, caring, and a good doctor. Obviously, he's a great writer, but how does he find the time? His story is truly hilarious and entertaining. A fast read and positively well written. Will there be another continuing story for Seth Levine? Highly recommend.

The phases of medical school. Using mnemonics in creative/funny ways to remember words and series. This took me down memory lane when I had to memorize the molecular chain in photosynthesis for my Biology class as an undergrad.Young love in flux and all the residual consequences. (Memory lane again). The author has a wonderful way of mixing poignancy and humor with the craziness of youth wanting to make new relationship rules and then wondering why they don’t work out in the long run. “We’re just friends!” …UH-HUH…The main character’s love for April and the pain of his loss when the relationship did not work out was well written. It tugs at the heart strings. Golly, I’m glad I’m not in that roller-coaster phase of my life. BUT there are more important things to be learned in medical school – demanding, rigorous, hard work and no sleep. I wondered when Seth had time to do laundry or buy toilet paper.Golly, this is fun read – frankly because it’s his (Seth’s life) – not mine. I understand the good sex (again well written), laughter amongst friends, observing symptoms, diagnosis and spontaneous interrogation by physicians who are mentoring Seth and his colleagues along the way.He mentions the book, “The New Our Bodies Ourselves”. I have that book! It was significant to me too – oh so many years ago.Is it really possible that an instructor would also be the model in a gynecologic exam? I loved the metaphor …” flicking [the drape] … like a preening matador”. The description is priceless.Obstetrics and Pediatrics: Teenage mothers – a physician’s view of children having children. Stepping through reflex tests of babies. Charming. I actually learned something. And a tired, frustrated mother who waited long hours to see a pediatrician. Seth gives the woman compassion and the reader is convinced Seth will become a successful physician.The pace is wonderful. There were times I had that fabulous, guttural laugh, with tears running down my face and I had to put the book down just to relish the moment.This is an excellent read – and required-reading material for anyone thinking about going to medical school. You have to be smart, be able to roll with the dice, analytical, exercise empathy, work very, very hard and have a sense of humor. Wild applause!

If you make and share anything from this book, prepare to be overwhelmed with people asking you things like, "you can make marshmallows at home?", "how did you do this?!", "how is it possible that these are so much better than marshmallows from the bag?!"...My favorite thing about the book is that there is absolutely no ambiguity. The author tells you what brand of ingredients were tested, what she recommends, the exact temperatures required, which mixer setting to use and for how long. None of that, "mix on medium until it looks like some obscure substance you're not familiar with as a comparison." These details make the recipes so foolproof and will give you amazing results even on your first batch!The book itself is also just so charming. The front and back covers are squishy, the images are beautiful and full of vibrant colors, the writing is witty and sweet. The recipes range from vanilla, which is simply amazing, to creative combos like maple bacon marshmallows - how fun! The book also includes a section of desserts that utilize marshmallows as a component if you're not into eating an entire pan of marshmallows... Not that there is anything wrong with that.

As a marshmallow aficionado with a highly developed palate for marshmallows, it is my expert opinion that the recipes in this book make the best marshmallows ever. A huge variety of flavors and very clear recipes. Even directions for fluff and mini marshmallows. I also appreciate the author's great sense of humor. I have made a lot of these marshmallows and they have been a big hit. I made "Peeps" for Easter and my family actually preferred them to the real thing. I get requests for different flavors. I also appreciate the tips and suggestions for getting creative with your own ideas for marshmallow making and using the marshmallows. A word to the wise though, candy making can be tricky so it's important to follow the recipes precisely and it really helps to have the right tools.

Every cook should know how to make marshmallows, and this fine little one-topic cookbook will help you master the technique quite easily. It is nicely put together, and with at least 60 marshmallow recipes, the book provides a very nice assortment of marshmallow flavors. Plus, there are plenty more recipes and ideas for incorporating your marshmallows into other desserts, creating interesting shapes, and working the marshmallows into cones, on sticks, etc. In other words, besides the actual flavor recipes, the author provides plenty more recipes, ideas and inspiration to fuel your marshmallow madness.The author utilizes a technique with which I was unfamiliar. It is quicker and easier than the method I had previously used. This author uses gelatin; not egg whites. She's got the process divided into three parts: Melting the gelatin (the bloom); creating the syrup, and "mallowing" (putting it all together). She incorporates flavoring in all three steps. Dividing the process into three steps seems to help simplify the recipes for me.I got interested in making marshmallows after reading an article in one of the cooking/food magazines several years ago, and I'd been using those few recipes with my own variations to make marshmallows for my Christmas cookie trays. I liked the variety that the marshmallows provided. But the process was time-consuming. Now, with these new recipes, I might just become a marshmallow-makin'-fool!And, last but not least: You've got to just love the puffy hard cover of the book!

I don't purchase as many cookbooks as I would like because I usually feel that they aren't worth the 3-4 decent recipes I get out of them, but I am glad I made this purchase. Sometimes it's nice to have the book in hand rather than searching the net for good recipes and let's face it, this book is just cute. Last night I made Passionfruit marshmallows. This particular recipe variation isn't actually in the book, but I based it on the Strawberry recipe and got great results. I'll admit, I was a bit wary of how they were going to turn out based on two factors. One, I have never made marshmallows with dividing the corn syrup like this book calls for. Then I wasn't sure if the amount of Passionfruit puree was going to be too acidic or watery. My fears were cast aside when this morning I turned out a nice pan of amazing treats! The tartness of the Passionfruit(Bioron brand)is amazing with the sweetness of the marshmallow.The texture of this marshamallow recipe is just perfect. One thing that my husband pointed out in reading the recipe to me as I was keeping watch on the bubbling syrup was a slightly confusing reference regarding the bloom and gelatin. The recipes are broken down into Bloom, Syrup and Mallowing.I added the gelatin to the fruit puree which is now called the Bloom, but when the directions call for melting the gelatin in the microwave for 30 seconds to soften, my husband stopped and asked if I had already added the gelatin to someting. He pointed out that it should have been referred to as the Bloom. I could see how this could confuse someone. Once the gelatin has been added to a liquid, the remainder of the recipe it should be referred to as the Bloom. I had to laugh at the two 1 star reviews. Come on people! One person obviously can't follow a simple direction if they were cooking a syrup and saving it for use days later. That doesn't warrant a 1 star review if you can't follow basic instructions. What a great story! What a great resource!Pros: Joel Solomon's personal story is interesting, and it is told engagingly. His insights about the ways we use (or ignore) our money are obviously the result of deep knowledge about financial systems AND a lifetime of careful investigation about both the underpinnings of those systems as well as the ways those systems influence (for good or for ill) us and our world. Reading this book made me realize that I personally have a responsibility to become more involved in and knowledgeable about the way my money is managed; I just can't turn it over to the brokers ever again. I hope Joel's concerns and wisdom will get into the minds and hearts of younger, capable, talented, and driven people -- especially in Canada and the States!Cons: Sometimes the lists of names and the quick mention of organizations and businesses left me wanting more -- yes, yes: I need to do my own research! But because so many of those names were unfamiliar to me, I felt slightly adrift -- not knowing where, even, to begin looking for that information.I have read this book and already find myself going back to it; I am confident that it will continue to spur me on in this lifelong process of becoming more and more responsible in the ways I manage my money; thank you, Joel!

He has done an excellent job of expressing the issues relating to dirty money and the many solutions presented by clean money. His writing is non-confrontational and compassionate. His humility of expression and genuine appreciation for the people that have influenced him is inspiring. The words come from a place of truth and egolessness. They are also intensely person which takes courage. Being in the financial services industry this book gives me hope that change will come and a new clean money rejuvenative economic model is a possibility. It encourages me to continue to build our business to help accelerate this shift in any way we can. I had no idea how much positive work is happening in the world around me until I read this book. I bow down to all those pioneers who have bravely taken on the task of bringing about the clean money revolution. Thanks to Joel and everyone in the book for all your hard work.

Cute book, but I think the "3-5 years" reading age is a little too young. Some of the words are difficult. Honestly, if my 3 year-old can read this book, I will put her on a child prodigy show or something. I bought it for a friend's 5 year-old and I think that he's going to have to grow into it a little...

Great level one book for reluctant early readers. Each page has one sentence, and the words are appropriate. This is helping us keep engaged during the summer.

We mentor children and we wanted to give our almost 10 year old student a gift. We had discovered over the semester that he is crazy about Legos...no surprise there! So we found this little story on Amazon that he could read to his little brother. And, by the way, we bought him a Lego item to put together as well. This child has a learning disability so this book was a good level for him to read aloud.

To get my son interested in reading my husband and I started by getting him books about things that he is interested in (ie. Legos, Ninja Turtles, etc.). This book is one that I chose for him and he loves it!!! He is really into Legos right now and loves reading about them. This was an excellent purchase for my household :)

This book was not the best reader (very low on phonetic words, high on sight words) but great in that my son didn't care how hard the reading was because it is LEGO GUYS! The binding is sturdy so this should last through the next three children too.I like it because my son WANTS to read it.

I have always loved Frommer's travel guides. This one does not dissapoint. Frommer's favorites are always exceptional don't miss choices. I am pleased to have an independent guide to Disney World.

I was excited to see a book that encompassed all that Orlando has to offer. Unfortunately, the author spent the first two chapters talking about how horrible Disney is for owning a business and bemoaning the fact that people go there. I really just wanted an overview of the WDW property- leave the snarkiness aside. None of that surfaced with the other entries (which I might add are also in the amusement park business. None of them do it out of the kindness of their hearts.) I wish the WDW parts were as informative and brief as the rest.

Gave us the inside info we needed to plan our trip to Orlando including Disney theme parks, Universal, and Sea world plus other attractions. Helped us make decisions on lodging , ticketing, and eating out based on what we like and the amount of time we have to make for a thrilling yet peaceful vacation. Well worth the cost of the book. Would recommend getting it a year in advance for planning then making reservations between 6 to 12 months before going.

As a fellow homesick Texan and follower of Lisa's blog I have read and re-read and cooked many wonderful dishes from Lisa. This cookbook is a fabulous addition!I love the details and lengths that Lisa goes into. There's information about types of chiles, rehydrating dried chiles, all sorts of cheese and how well they can be used in her recipes etc. The recipes and photos are top notch. So far we have tried three and they are each unique and flavorful. I'm really looking forward to trying the green chile and cream cheese ice cream next! These recipes are versatile and Lisa includes things like chicken fried steak, tacos, enchiladas, and burgers to go with your queso. Queso lovers unite because this cookbook is made just for you!!

I purchased this book as a thinly veiled gift for my wife, but really for myself. She loves the book and says the recipes look great. The first bowl of queso was outstanding...and I'm looking forward to more. She's a picky chef, so her positive endorsement earns this book 5 stars.

The blurbs accompanying each recipe were great. I can't wait to try these! The analysis of what works and what doesn't and why is wonderful.

There are so many good recipes in this book. I like how the author talks about the differences between the recipes and the regions. She even mentions how a few of the early ones aren't her favorite versions, but included them anyway for novelty and historical purposes. This is a great addition to any queso/tex-mex food lover's cookbook library, and it would make a great gift in a food basket with a bag of tortilla chips, some dried chiles, and a pretty bowl to serve it in!

Another masterpiece from Lisa Fain. The recipes are achievable for the home cook, and the accompanying narrative gives context to each recipe that really does capture the imagination. This book is a departure for the Homesick Texan in that her stories are less homespun family-centric and based on her travels (through the queso countryside and through aisles and aisle of Texas libraries - wow - who knew there was so much to learn about Queso?). Don't stop authoring cookbooks, Lisa!

As a native San Antonian and cheese lover, transplanted to the Midwest, I couldn't wait for this book! I'm reading it like a novel in bed this Sunday morning because there's so much information. Can't wait to try MOST (not so sure about the vegan quesos) of these recipes! Also, I love that Lisa just embraces the fact that a lot of quesos are made with velveeta or American cheese. It is what it is. Ole! Queso! Yumm!

I have used several of Lisa's recipes from her blog. My favorite has been Baked Jalapeno Pimento Cheese Dip; I'm asked to bring it to most potluck functions I attend. So when I found out she had an entire book about queso, I preordered it. And I have not been disappointed. I love how she has researched the history and gives descriptions of ingredients so that I can make the best dip ever.

I prefer ordered this because I have a mild obsession with queso, as many people do, it is so very delicious how could you not!!! Anyway, they even have tortilla chips recipes and ice cream and guac, salsaa.... Traditional queso, vegan queso, fancy queso, white queso, breakfast queso, etc,. And the pictures are fantastic!!! High quality
